Happiness is…Faster Delivery!

Whenever we order any product online, it takes time to get delivered at your doorstep. In between, in the worst case you could have anxiety issues regarding the product. What if the product is damaged or what if it reaches the wrong destination? All these issues arise due to the delivery time. It can range from one day to a week or even half a month depending on the location from which you have placed the order. And any product has no right to gift anxiety to you. That’s the sad and bad part of logistics and supply chain. So how can anyone wrap this thing of late delivery? What can we do as a retailer?
So far, biggies of retail have tested pilot projects of delivery via Drones and Land Robotics (Artificially Intelligent Trolleys i.e. Product on Wheels). And it is quintessential for the retail industry to adapt to the upcoming changes. Currently, a lot of research is going on. Plus there are hiccups like Government Norms on issues related to safety and security. So it might take some years for these technologies to pull off in real-time.
On the other hand, for faster retailing there are things like limited-time-only products and flash sales to drive urgency and immediate purchase; pop-up establishments to quickly get products and services to market and build buzz; and self-service check-out and kiosks to reduce or eliminate waiting.
All these mentioned tactics are used for faster retailing. But the completion of happiness will be when the products get delivered at fast pace. Till then, they are happy with whatever they have. However, recent developments in retail have given wings to the desires of customer. So they are waiting eagerly with baited breath for upcoming technologies to pull-off in real-time. And for millennials, Happiness is…Faster Delivery!
